Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann will turn his back on a move to Manchester United FC if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Antoine Griezmann born 21 March 1991 is a French professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid and the France national team as a forward. He began his career at Real Sociedad, making his debut in 2009 and winning the Segunda División title in his first season. Across five seasons there, he scored 52 goals in 201 official matches. In 2014, he transferred to Atlético Madrid for €30 million.
In 2010, he was part of the team that won the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship on home soil. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2014 and played at that year's World Cup, helping France to the quarter-finals. Griezmann was the top scorer and Player of the Tournament at UEFA Euro 2016, where the French were runners-up on home soil, after a 1–0 defeat to Portugal. For his performances during the course of 2016, he was shortlisted for the Ballon d'Or 2016 Award in which he finished in third place.
The player is also keen on the move this summer but he will not go unless United make it into Europe’s premier club competition.
United are currently battling to make it into the top four and get back into the Champions League next season. Despite the size of the club, United know that being in the competition is still important when it comes to attracting the very
best players.
There is already a package on the table for Griezmann worth £300,000 a week making him the highest paid player in the club’s
history; but the Frenchman has made it clear to his representatives that it is not about money but achieving success at the very highest level.
Antoine Griezmann is Jose Mourinho's No1 transfer target for the summer and the Athletic foward has a contract at Atletico until 2021.
