Water Transportation: Sanwo-Olu Commissions New Jetty In Offin

It was an euphoric moment for the people of Offin-Ile in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area on Thursday 25th May 2023, as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, who was represented by Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, the Honorable Commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pension commissioned the newly constructed Jetty with waiting shelter and shoreline protection.

The new Jetty which is one out of the nine Jetties Governor Sanwo-Olu has constructed in Ikorodu Division was after the commissioning turned in to the Lagos State Waterways Authority.

Sanwo-Olu in his speech restated his commitment to decongest Lagos State roads through world class water transportation system. He further stated that Ikorodu division will play major roles in achieving this because of the many coastal areas in the division.

Offin Jetty









The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Builder. Olusesan Mayokun Daini who received the State emissaries in the company of Vice Chairman, Hon. Nuraini Okedina-Maja, Mr Hakeem Adegbenro Adesanya, Council Manager, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Oba of Igbogbo Kingdom ably represented by Chief Jelili Oduntan, Balogun of Igbogbo Kingdom, all ward Councilors and Supervisors of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Baale of Offin, Oreta and Baiyeku Communities, religious leaders, community development leaders and sea of other people across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA expressed his gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for recognizing Ikorodu division as major coastal area and growing city that needs road transportation movements.

Daini reiterated the need for Governor Sanwo-Olu to consider fixing the road of Offin which would further add value and economic growth to all the communities around the area and also to the newly commissioned Jetty

He went further to describe the proximity of Offin, Oreta, Baiyeku and Ibeshe to Banana Island as that of neighbors as it only takes less than 20 minutes to travel from Offin, Ibeshe and Baiyeku to Lagos Island.

"We might not need to overpopulate Lagos Island and easily wear out its Infrastructures out if our coastal communities are evenly developed." Daini added.












The builder also reminded the audience how he had the privilege of announcing the aspiration of Mr. Governor, stating that he is dependable and it has since be proved that he is truly capable and efficient as he diligently execute the THEMES agenda to develop every strata of life in Lagos State.

Top government officials and other dignitaries that attended the occasion are: Mrs. Rukayat Alake Sanusi, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State, Public Finance Department Debt Management, Mrs. Olayinka Linda. MNI, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dr. Olajide Babajide and Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, General Manager at Lagos State Waterways Authority.
