Reasons President Tinubu Directed Aliyu Abubakar Aziz To Commence Pre-Retirement Leave

Tinubu also approved the appointment of Bisoye Coker-Odusote to serve as the acting director-general and CEO of (NIMC).


Aliyu Abubakar Aziz is the director-general and chief executive officer (CEO), of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). He was appointed by ex- president Mohammadu Buhari in November 2015 and he got an extension till 2019.

Until Tuesday, when President Tinubu ordered him to take pre-retirement leave through a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity. He also said that Tinubu also approved the appointment of Bisoye Coker-Odusote to serve as the acting director-general and CEO of (NIMC).

Ngelalea said the appointment, which is also for a period of 90 days, would take effect on August 24, 2023, after which, a full term of four years will begin as the substantive NIMC director-general and CEO, beginning on November 24, 2023.
