Elepe Kingdom Welcomes New King as Governor Sanwo-Olu Install Oba Omotayo as the Fidimolu of Elepe Kingdom
Earlier today at the Secretariat of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu installed HRM Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekoyejo Omotayo, Oluyemowo 1, as the first and new traditional ruler of Elepe Kingdom in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Ikorodu Division. Oba Omotayo, who served as Baale of Elepe Kingdom for over forty years, was presented with the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment at the ceremony.
Represented by Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, Commissioner for Chieftain affairs and Rural Development, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the role of traditional rulers in promoting peace and development. The Commissioner, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Kikelomo Bolarinwa, highlighted the event's historic significance and the smooth selection process of the new Oba, adhering to the Obas and Chiefs Law.
Chairman Daini congratulated Oba Omotayo and urged the community to support him, emphasizing Elepe Town's rich cultural heritage and the promise of prosperity, peace, and progress under the new leadership.
Bldr. Daini in his remarks, said “To our new king, Oluyemowo 1 of Elepe Kingdom, your ascension to the throne is not only a recognition of your lineage and right but also an acknowledgement of your integrity, wisdom, and commitment to the service of our people. As you receive the staff of office, may it serve as a symbol of your authority and a reminder of the responsibilities that come with it.”
The Council chairman said of the Town,”Elepe Town has a rich history, known for its culture, tradition, and resilience. I believe our new king will further preserve the heritage of our land and foster unity among our people, and also lead us towards greater achievements. Your reign marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that we believe will be filled with prosperity, peace, and progress by God’s grace.”
