Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club Empowers Over 370 Pupils Through Education Drive

By Oluwaseun Ajayi

In a bid to foster educational development and community upliftment, the Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club has successfully carried out its 2024/2025 Legacy Project, tagged “Education Drive”, through the donation of essential learning materials to pupils in two primary schools in Ikorodu.

Led by its President, Leo Abdulrahaman Ajasa, the club visited Jamatul Islamiyyah Primary School and Salvation Army Primary School on Wednesday, June 19, where a total of 371 pupils benefited from the initiative.

At Jamatul Islamiyyah Primary School, 126 pupils received educational packs consisting of two exercise books, a pencil, a biro, a ruler, a sharpener, and an eraser. Additionally, 60 younger pupils in kindergarten and nursery classes were gifted a pair of socks along with either a sharpener, biscuit, or eraser.

Similarly, at Salvation Army Primary School, 125 pupils, including special needs students, received the full set of educational materials, while another 60 pupils were given socks and other basic supplies.

The project, aimed at promoting access to basic learning tools for underserved children, was made possible through the support of generous donors, most notably Mr. Basheer Tosin Ashafa, whose contribution played a significant role in its execution.

Speaking during the outreach, Leo Abdulrahaman Ajasa expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Ashafa and the Lions family for their unwavering support. He encouraged the pupils to remain committed to their education, serve as proud ambassadors of their schools and communities, and aspire to become transformational leaders in the future.

“Giving is a blessing,” Ajasa remarked, urging the children to imbibe the spirit of generosity as they grow older.

With just days to the end of his tenure, Ajasa reflected on his administration’s achievements, praising his team for their dedication to community service throughout the service year.

Also speaking at the event, Leo Keji Lawal, the club’s Membership Director, emphasized that the Education Drive is aligned with the core values of Lions Clubs International—service to humanity and sustainable community development.

Lawal noted that the Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club remains committed to impactful projects that address real community needs and foster youth empowerment.

The Education Drive Legacy Project underscores the club’s enduring mission: to create a ripple effect of positive change by investing in the next generation.

As the service year draws to a close, the project stands as a lasting reminder of the power of service, partnership, and community-driven leadership.
